Investigate 4-D Design at a Prestigious Art Institute: PrattMWP in Utica, NY

4-D design is a key component of any student’s design and fine art education. In the Foundations course FDC 180: Time and Movement (3 credits), students are introduced to basic concepts of art and design in space and time through the use of computers, video, photo, sound, and lighting equipment. Assignments direct students in creating works that utilize attributes of time and movement, elements of moving image; serial, sequential, and narrative ordering, still and moving image editing, sound and image relations, and object and event analysis.

In focusing on the relations between students’ spacing and timing skills, the 4-D course extends and supplements the other art school Foundation courses, and prepares students for further work with time-based media.

Pratt is one of the world’s top art schools because of its heralded art curriculum, which emphasizes the development of strong foundational skills and understanding. 4-D design is an integral part of a PrattMWP art education.
