Apply Early for on-Campus Work Study Opportunities

federal work study program 9453323632 oThe Federal Work Study Program is a federally funded program that assists students attending PrattMWP with some of their college expenses. The program helps students earn financial funding through a part-time work program. The program is based on financial need, so not all students will be eligible to participate in the Work Study Program.

Federal Work Study funding is also limited, therefore students that complete their FAFSA the earliest, will have a greater chance of being awarded Federal Work Study. All students that are eligible to participate in the program will be offered Federal Work Study on their Financial Aid Award Letter.

Students are assigned a Work Study position, by the Financial Aid Office, based on their class schedule and college major. Work Study assignments will be provided to students at Orientation, and it is the student’s responsibility to meet with their assigned supervisor and set up a work schedule.

A student may only work 5 hours per week, or 10 hours per pay period. All students will be paid New York State’s minimum wage rate. It is the student’s responsibility to keep track of the days and hours they have worked, so they can complete a bi-weekly timesheet. All timesheets must be approved and signed by the student’s supervisor prior to submitting them to our Human Resources Office. Students will only be paid if they have submitted a timesheet in a timely manner.

A student may be terminated from their work study assignment if they do not show up on time for their scheduled shifts, do not complete all duties assigned by their supervisor, or neglect to meet the required 2.0 GPA requirement after each semester.
